Description
Urban Roots London is non-profit urban agriculture project in London's East-end that grows food on underused land.
They make a minimum of 2/3 of their food production available for free or at affordable rates.
Their partners play an integral role in distributing produce directly into
London neighbourhoods through their own programs and networks.
Together they work to overcome barriers that keep Londoners from participating in the local food system.
Their partners include:
- Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre
- Glen Cairn Community Resource Centre
- Northwest London Resource Centre
- LUSO Community Services
- Siloam United Church
- St. Joseph’s Parkwood Institute
- Queer Events
- Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre
- Growing Chefs! Ontario
Urban Roots London is challenging the inequities in our food system by reimagining the ways we grow and view food in London. Growing food is hard work, and growing food to feed the community requires a different model of food production and distribution.
This collaboration sauce will help to support Urban Roots London's farming equipment and operational needs so that local, organically grown food can become accessible to all Londoners, regardless of means.
